Is this an example of the Giori misaligned inking in roller phenomenon? Look to the left of the plane, it affects the right side of the left vertical of the "U" in US. Also there is some sort of smudge in the margin. What is this called? Line artifact at rightmost edge of margin is probably my beard.

Poor plate wiping. This phenomenon is extremely common on the coil stamps of the past, of which billions were printed with very little quality control!

Note that is not a C58 but rather a C63 plate block.

Oops, I noticed the lack of orange around the left frame well before posting this.

Was quality control poor for most rotary printed stamps and coils were even worse?
