What styles are available? I have one where it is fully tagged (Overall tagging) and then several where it is tagged only between the stamps (through the perforation section). I also seem to have some that are untagged, which are on the same envelope fragment with overall tagging. Scott only mentions "tagged". What is standard for this stamp? Thanks in advance.

Note that I have one set where the left stamp is overall tagging, but the right two, which are connected, have tagging between the stamps. Very tough to photograph, but I can, if necessary.

Partime, as far as I know there are no tagging varieties known on Scott 1897. Only issued with Overall Tagging. Plenty of other varieties though! And three different papers were used for this issue.
Scott 2225 is also a 1 cent Omnibus, and it was issued with block tagging and untagged. The difference between 1897 and 2225 is the numeral "1" - it is much larger on 2225. Hope this helps?

Peter

Thanks Peter. I'll try to post some pictures later. I knew about the 1897 vs 2225 difference, but didn't know about the paper. It is just odd that I have a strip of (3) with obvious tagging differences ... in fact two strips of (3).

Partime, I am interested in seeing the pictures. I collect Transportation Coils almost exclusively and always on the lookout for unknown varieties!

There is an untagged variety of the 1897 1-cent omnibus ... 1897e ("tagging omitted" error). I would certainly love to have a pair of these as the 2014 Scott lists a mint copy at $150. Remember that the 1897 omnibus has the cent sign following the numeral 1. The later 2225 just has a large numeral 1 for the denomination.

Sorry I took so long to reply. Long day at work, and very difficult to photograph with UV light.

ISSUE SOLVED!

Of course, it wasn't anything special. The stamps are shown below, but what is difficult to see is that the non-tagged parts are covered with TAPE right down the middle, which is UV lamp resistant.

And the ones I thought were un-tagged actually had a very small amount of tagging visible in various areas.

So, sorry for the excitement. On to the next problem ...
