I need to amend a statement I made above. The question was if CCL rolls exhibit the wavy die cuts. I have several rolls that don't, but bought a roll of Star Spangled Banner stamps this morning, and not only does it show the funky die cuts on the beginning and end of the roll, it also has them on the beginning and end of the leader!

I can see the next revision of the Scott's Specialized:

Yep. Here is the US 3980 (same style, but 39c rather than First Class). Note the big shift causing double letters and other features.
