You guys are awesome - thanks again. The cost of expertising for an APS member like myself is $20 for a less expensive item like this which means that if I did get it expertised the cost would be about what it would likely sell for, assuming there weren't a couple of very eager people bidding against each other. The whole cover is just as nice and so I will need to think a bit about whether to auction it off as it is a nice example in my collection of flight covers. Once again, thank you all!

Very uncommon yes. Very unique yes. Rare? Maybe in the W/F being on philatelic cover? It is a very nice cover and with it having all of it's +'s and -'s I think it comes out on more of the + side. I believe the W/F collectors will like it just as much as the Airmail collectors will. With all that said I believe if decriped with it's +'s and -'s (what it is and what it has going for it)you could get more than you think if at auction depending on the shape of the cover. I am just a Newby Stamper and that's what I think right or wrong.

It would not be financially wise to lift it from the cover because it is not worth even the cost of doing that (I charge $10. to lift a stamp + $5. for ID (no cert.) plus return shipping, so the lowest you could get away with is $16./18. (if you wanted insurance). And by the way, as far as I know, APS will no longer lift stamps from cover. I think I am the only service that will.

But on the other hand, you could also go to my website at www.stampexpertizing.com and read the article "How to lift stamps from covers" (click onto "Articles" and you will see your choices) and then try it yourself! A 495 line pair, used philatelically like this is probably worth about what revcollector said.
