NOVEMBER 9th 1913 Bird's eye view of Jersey shore

Front:

Reverse: This card has a VERY unique & very rare Jersey Shore, PA. cancel. It's a Perfection, Milam/Holmes, or White Sewing Machine (Cheshire) Models more on it here: http://swansongrp.com/macht209.html

I think you may have misidentified the above postmark, as I believe you will find it to be a Columbia Rectilinear example. I understand there are so many variables in identifying the exact Columbia Rectilinear machine cancel that a reference book has been devoted to it. Unfortunately, I don't have the reference, so I can't provide any further details.

I hate to pop your bubble, but are you sure it's not a Columbia machine cancel?

Well, there certainly was no "bubble" but I just kept coming up with that same result using the Swanson site, so that is why I posted it here. There is no lines above or below the town or date, etc or at all and has same number of horizontal bars but I was still unsure. I didn't think tat I hit any kind of jack-pot or anything just merely wanted a consult from the professional counsel (the community here). The one you show has 8 horizontal bars and mine shows 7 count them for yourself. -Jeff

So if the majority say Rectiliner (although it looks nothing like any of the Rectiliners I own) Then I suppose that what it must be. :) -Jeff
Thank you.

Edit:
the more I read the more I'm leaning towards the Rectiliner but the devilis in the details here like one of you said there is a lot more information on the Rectiliner than on the Swanson site...I'd like to have that book. I really like cancels.

With the Columbia straight-line(or rectilinear) machine cancels, the time is on a different line then the date. The number of killer bars can vary, but the separation of date from time is a constant. Perfection, Pneumatic and Barry straight-line machine cancels have the date and time on the same line.

There is one exception - there is an experimental Barry straight-line machine cancel from Oswego, NY where the day and time are on the same line, but the year is on another line.
