This was part of a collection that I recently purchased. When I first saw it, I got pretty excited! I mean the CV for this as a used stamp is $2100! Whoever did such a horrible job trying to "fix" this should be banned from any philatelic groups/events. I honestly think it would have been better left alone. I guess it is a nice space filler for someone who will never have the chance to aquire sucha rare stamp.

If anyone is interested in it, I am accepting offers and also have it listed on E-Bay. My user ID on E-Bay is wstorm1

Just wondering if anyones else has high value stamps that look this rough??

at least they could have used a U.S. stamp to patch the corner.

Can't pin it down - looks like a Swiss Strubel or Wurtenburg stamp or something like that.

There was a Scott U.S. #1 in the collection also. At least it wasn't "repaired" like this one, but a small part of it is missing. Glad I didn't factor these and a few others into the value of the collection!

Maybe just find someone with that stamp torn on the other side and partner up.

There is a market for this highly sought-after stamp but in its current state, it will be a tough sell. I would recommend a good soak to try to remove the other stamp and to check for other flaws. Except for the poor attempt at restoration, this is a nice looking stamp. I am sured a conservator could make this stamp much more presentable, but I am not sure what the cost would be.

Even taking a high quality scan of another example that matches the perforations closely and printing it and using that to fill it in would be far superior. It might bring $200 on ebay if you did that.

That is bad. I wonder what stamp the repair piece is from? Here is my bad "left alone" #72.

Maybe someone should start an "Ugliest Stamp in Your Collection" thread!
