Hawaiians are beautiful too. And, hey, all I have is the slightest. Don't let that stop me.

Andrew Jackson showed up at my door today.
Nice looking in person, though I have to admit I'm a little taken aback how thin the paper is. Checking my other CSAs I see a lot of them had pretty lightweight paper. War time economy I guess.
I'll need to do some quick research on papers to make sure I've got the real thing. Right now I'm feeling about 75% certain. Any Confederate paper experts out there?

Here he is front and back.

Thanks Kevin.
Tell me is the paper always that thin?
Funny, I have several CSAs, but I never noticed it before.

Wow that's amazing! Didn't England & sometimes France help produce stamps & currency for the confederacy?

Jeff, the #6 and #14 (unissued) were designed and printed by De La Rue in London Eng.

Here is the London printed #6 on the left and two #7 (one on translucent, British paper and local paper) both printed locally by Archer & Daley of Richmond Va.

The unissued #14 (sadly not a very good copy)

The altered plates mentioned on other threads were also created there.
Here's an emerald green copy of the 2˘ Calhoune printed by August Dietz in the 1920s. Just missed out on a nice block of 4 of these on ebay yesterday.

Couldn't tell you about the currency.

Another aside. That #1 above was the first stamp printed in North America by stone lithography. And also the first to picture a sitting President.
Mrs Davis (who I happen to think was a bit of a babe!) disliked this image because she thought it made her husband look too much like that guy Lincoln.
