Greetings! I have been an on-and-off collector since the age of 8 or so (and I vividly remember the day that my dad, a collector himself, showed me the album he bought for me and how it "worked" -- I was instantly hooked). Through the roughly half-century that has passed since then (yikes!) my collecting interests have evolved. There's a part of me that's still a worldwide collector at heart, which is why I've decided to put together a collection (as complete as I can) of my birth year -- inherent variety. But otherwise, my most enduring interests are France (and colonies / territories), Netherlands (ditto), Israel, Eastern Europe, Canada, and Taiwan. I also like Europa (I like seeing what various countries do around a certain theme, though the older common design years I like too). In general, I'm partial to older stamps, but don't exclude newer ones. My latest area that I'm looking at is Baltic (Estonia / Latvia / Lithuania) during their first period of independence, though I think that their modern issues are generally quite attractive as well. Postal stationery also interests me.
I have *many* catalogues (Scott, Gibbons, Yvert, Michel, plus country specialized catalogues) which I very much like, because all that information adds to my collecting enjoyment. I'm also partial to hingeless albums -- so much quicker to get the stamps into the album (yes, and much more expensive as well, at least up front).
I'll stop now -- I've been reading some posts here for some time, and thought I should finally do one of my own.
