I dig stamp collecting, but this next years stamps aren't impressing me at all. As a matter of fact, I'm going to try my best to not collect any more stamps for awhile. I may take a few years off and just fill up the holes in my collection. It's all so overwhelming at times.

Agree. One exception is next week's release of the War of 1812, Battle of New Orleans, as that issue will "complete" the War of 1812 series of stamps that has been ongoing for awhile.

Otherwise, much of the stamp program seems fairly dismal, although there is rumored to be stamps featuring Elvis, Steve Jobs, Johnny Carson, etc., that has not been "formally announced" because of the legal need to obtain "rights" for the use of the named personalities on stamps.

Why in the world would we need another Elvis stamp?

Because it sells! The previously issued Elvis stamp is said to be the largest stamp issue ever. The USPS doesn't really care about collectors much anymore, and the focus today is on "pop culture" and what will draw media attention and sales to the stamp program by not just stamp collectors but the public-at-large.
