Most of the cards I've bought and recieved have come inside of a postcard sized plactic sleeve taped inside of folded lightweight cardboard, taped closed and sent in a regular envelope.

The lowest I've ever sold a postcard is $10.00 and the most I've sold one for is $275.00. While I agree with the vast majority having only minimal value and scarce stamps on postcards are....well, scarce. The town cancels as mentioned are your best bet but many other topicals do sell well, especially Patriotic post cards and gimmick cards.

Also you must remember that postcard rate in the early 20th century was 1˘ rate and the 1˘ stamps of 99% of the definitive & commemorative issues are a dime per 100. Some of the scarce Washington / Franklin series have been found on postcards.
