Washington & Franklin intimidate me.

Even though I've been collecting U.S. for several years now, there are so many things I still don't know. Unfortunately, there are no stamp clubs in my (rural) area. So many things would be easier to learn if one had the luxury of sitting down with a more-experienced collector and asking questions. For example, the difference in having an experienced collector show you the differences in colors and paper types vs. reading about the differences in a Catalogue.

That's one of the reasons I'm so glad I found SCF.

Is that Washington or Franklin?

Just kidding -- that's a very nice one. I love that "engraved" look on the older stamps.

Now I'll begin posting some stamps printed by the National Bank Company in 1870-71. They are without grills and have no "secret marks." Check them out carefully and let me know if I have obviously misidentified something.
