I started collecting at 8 yrs. old. Introduced to the hobby in school by a teacher at Monroe Elementary school in Granger, UT (now West Valley City). Put the hobby on hiatus as a teenager, and through my 4 years in the US Navy stationed on the USS Boone (FFG 28) out of Mayport, FL. I started collecting again about a decade ago, and most of my acquisitions have been made through
ebay since there are no stamp clubs or dealers within several hundred miles of where I live now, Rock Springs, Wyoming.
I collect United States pretty much exclusively. I have a collection of Joint-issues with stamps from other countries, but they all have a US counterpart. I do have the obligatory penny black since it is the first postage stamp ever (I would like to find one with my initials D R in the corners, though).
I am trying to fill my Minuteman album with some nice used classics. I am a hobbiest, not an investor, so the stamps do not have to be pristine, just look nice in my album.
Wyoming related items are my main persuit.
I would like to get all 60 of the Wyoming precancel varieties one day (I have about 20 now).
I also collect stamps with specific dates: May 18, May 28, June 23, October 2, December 14 and December 23rd of any year, the older, the better.
Flight covers in and out of Wyoming cities are also an interest.
Wyoming Statehood and Yellowstone National Park Covers with different cachets also interest me.
I am open to suggestions and I strive to be fair, open and honest. I want to be an asset to the hobby, rather than a liability.
What I've seen of this site so far is pretty great. I wish there was a thumbs-up button for these posts like on the Facebook, there are alot of very interesting pictures I wish I could let the poster know that their post was appreciated without typing an entire reply.
Other than that, I really appreciate the vast amount of experience and wisdom of the members of this community. Thanks for allowing me to join.
