I recently acquired a lot of Hawaii stamps and came across 2 #35 perf 12 2 cent brown issued 1864-86 which are very different in size and see nothing noted in Scott's Catalog which... does indicate overprints and reprints of the 2 cent brown but with clearly different colors...so it doesn't explain the size variation. ???

Aren't the images equal in size? So it would be a perforating issue...wouldn't it?

Hawaii has lovely stamps. The person on this one is King David Kalakaua. By the way, he wrote the words to the national anthem, "Hawaii Pono'i".
