A few more from the cigar box. I can't find these in the Scott Catalogue. I looked under Spain and Spanish Morocco with no luck. The fine print in the bottom margin reads, "ED. HERALMI - RIEUSSET. S.A." If you'd like a closer look, here's a link to a very large (800KB) version of the image: http://www.mosescreek.com/tanger.jpgIf you recognize them, please illuminate me KirkS

Kirk..Scots does not list Telegraph & Telephone stamps:
The name, in the fine print, is the company who printed the stamps |

Bob:
I should have picked up on the "telegraph" part -- but it still doesn't mean much to me. Maybe I should start with more elementary questions...
exactly what is a telegraph stamps?
am I correct about Spanish Morocco?

KirkS,
Telegraph stamps were used to show payment of telegraph message services, place on company form or receipt. I personally don't have a telegraph catalog to give you more in-depth info. Tangier was proclaimed an International City/Zone, in 1912, detached politically from the rest of Morocco with the various powers, United Kingdom, France & Spain having own separate postal systems there until 1956 when it was reunited with current state of Morocco. So listing is simply, Tangier is correct.

Warrehouse is correct about telegraph stamps, but the ones shown here are not telegraph stamps but postal tax stamps / cinderellas issued for the benefit of orphans ("huerfanos") of Telegraph company employees in Tangier. |

Jan-Simon & Warrehouse, Thanks for the information.
T360: I doubt the stamps are worth much; they just caught my eye. "Interesting," to use your word. Also, interesting to me that the 1PTA stamps are identical except for color; same for the 2PTS. I'd wonder if there's another color for the 5? And how many more might be in the series?
All are canceled, but there's no hint of a year?
