I've been trying for some time now to see if there was any connection between the "Edison Electric Company" and the "Edison Illuminating Company". Of course Edison is the key word here, but so far I'm unable to locate in my right and proper researching any connection.
My question to the members, do you have any good information that would provide information of a connection or not?
Now this is the only 1898 Series Revenue Stamp I've seen so far with the "Edison Electric Company" cancel, and this one as you can see is shop worn. Not any value here except for the cancel, at lease to me!
The stamp in addition to the printed/stamped blue/purple cancel also has the three slits. I've noticed over many years and thousands of the 1898 Revenue Series Stamps, mostly the commerce dollar face value (and others of the same series), that these three slits usually the majority of the time used in conjunction with stock transfer type of document/instrument(s), and also on the Memo of Stock Sales. But there is no set orientation for these slits!

Cheers
Dave
