I was supposed to be shopping for birthday gifts for my friends' twins, who turn 9 on Saturday. Next thing I know I find myself wandering through an antique store (which I never do), and see a couple boxes of "vintage" postcards. One box was of just Baltimore. I'm a sucker for old photographs or postcards of places that are familiar to me. I love to see a place I recognize, but from 100 or more years ago. I managed to restrain myself and only buy three.

Peabody Institute:

Charles St:

Jones Falls Run (now keep in mind that these days when you say "Jones Falls" most people will think you mean the Jones Falls Expressway that runs over it):

Same here , thank goodness for the golden age of postcards.
Thanks for sharing.

I have some great postcards of local town views , some places are still the same or little has changed and one Theatre has been torn down to make way for a new commercial building.

Me too.

Actually, I usually search ebay for postcards of places I know, then save the images.

No way ....... I've done that too.

Saving postcard scans serve me as a checklist for future buys ,I've spent as much as $15.00 (Did that 2 weeks ago) but 90% of time it's around $4-$6 dollars especially if they combine shipping on multiple cards.

We have a paper and postcard show coming up this weekend , and in April a BIG Postcard Show , I love (RPPC) Real Photo Postcards , guess I'll have to open a thread exclusively for my Postcards , I'd love to show them off .

I used to be a BaltiMoron but have since moved. I still appreciate seeing old cards & covers from Baltimore & the surrounding area.
