Admit it ... the postcards of the interior of the Hershey's Chocolate factory outnumber all of the postcards of all of the interiors of all of the other factories of the world, taken together.
That does not mean we cannot celebrate the also-rans, eh?
Just goes to show how times have changed: Did anyone notice that all of the people pictured in that last postcard are all wearing hats? Not one of them is shown with a bare head!
wt1: I also noticed the hats. In addition to the general custom of the times, I was also wondering if it might be due to the specific custom (it was Photograph Day) or their Better Halves asking them to come home without all those splinters in their hair.
I think the hats were because they were open to the outside, plus sawdust, splinters, etc. There were not many hard hats at that time.
That place world hve been very noisy with the saws, splitters, and planers all in operation at one time, and no ear protection evident, perhaps ear plugs made from rosin?
