Quote: Quote: I don't know why you say ouch to the suburbs remark, it's only about 13 miles from Manhattan. Many people commute from there to NYC every day by bus. Newark airport is considered the third NYC airport, at least hundreds of NY'ers fly from there daily. LOL yes I'm aware of that. I was thinking you meant it as a slight. Most folks I've met from Jersey make it clear they are not from New York. |

It's that inferiority complex. Lived in NYC all my life, 60+ years. I am very well aware of the things said by and about the NY-NJ "rivalry". |

Yeah, it's too bad that New Yorkers are saddled with that inferiority complex. In NJ, we had a five bedroom house on an acre of land right behind a huge park where the kids could play soccer and ride their bikes after rolling out of bed, when they weren't attending one of the best school systems in the country. 40 minutes from midtown for Broadway, restaurants & museums, no more inconvenient than coming in from Brooklyn or Queens. All for less than half of what a tiny one bedroom coop in NYC would cost.
Could never figure out why folks put up with the traffic, noise, pollution and high taxes of NYC. |

I think you have the wrong end of the inferiority complex. As for living in NYC, to begin with, I don't have to drive miles just to buy a loaf of bread. In fact I don't have to drive anywhere, I can let others do the work while I use the travel time more constructively. And only in Manhattan are the real traffic, noise, and pollution. And since I don't have kids the school system quality is not a big concern except as a general issue. And it might take 40 minutes or more just to get through the tunnel. |

Wert, please do not ask any more innocent questions about where places are here! I think you're starting another war between the states down here!

Lol Peter. No war between NY and NJ. NJ people love NYC (at least to visit), just sad that that love is unrequited. However, I'm actually from the Boston area originally, so if you want to talk about a war, then we're really getting serious. . .
Now, back to stamps . . . |

Hi If one says Jersey has minimal traffic compared to New York, they are nuts When I lived in NY I was a consultant at Bell Labs in Murray Hill. I used I80 and GW for almost a year. The traffic was horrible. Sometimes I took the Garden State to the Tapan Zee and crossed, which was alright since I lived near Westchester, also less traffic. Jerry B |

So much for trying to inject a little humor and get the discussion back to stamps. Peter - maybe there is still a war between the states going on back there that I can now safely watch from my retirement home in sunny Arizona. |

I work in NYC and live in NJ, passing through East Orange on the train everyday - I guess I'm just living the dream! |
