I am hoping for some information on this copy of the 1846 Brattleboro Postmasters Provisional. Yes, I know it is not authentic - it is RED, which makes it rather obvious.

Nonetheless, this is part of my great-grandfather's collection, which I am in the process of restoring in the manner he collected. Whatever anyone may know is appreciated beyond words.

KGB - Yes, I am a frequent downloader <ahem> reader of the wonderful resources the Siegel firm has made available. There are several good sites with information on the original but I've had no luck in my early web-digging on anything related to this forgery/reprint.

Here is a reproduction issued by the Brattleboro Stamp Club: http://stampwants-stamps.bidstart.c...85687/a.html

And here is a listing for a 1936 reproduction of the stamp: http://webcache.googleusercontent.c...t=clnk&gl=us
It is labeled Fac-simile Scott No. 12.
