I know that there has been many reprints, forgeries, and some truly are locals from the 19th century. So, does any one recognize this Swarts Dispatch stamp?. When I placed it under scan, can see a faint blue ink marking on the right side. But the stamp in front looks very fainted. The vendor said he did not know that much about this stamp at all and took it out of one of his stamp books. I do know Chatham Sq.is a major intersection in Chinatown, Mahahattan, NYC. it is confluence of 8 streets. The Bowery, Doyers Street, East Broadway, St. James Place, Mott Street, Oliver Street, Worth and Park Row street. Does anyone know if they had specific streets written for post offices known on the Swarts Dispatch stamps that appeared to look like this stamp? The backing of the stamp the shows a part of printing reverse writing of the word," post office." The stamp itself is very light impression of ink, black or grey, on yellow paper. a flat plate. I know that there are high probability of these locals being fake, so I do not think this is so valuable, but always good to check from other collectors if they seen one like this before.
If anyone know any information about this stamp would be appreciated. Thank you for your time to look. smiles
