My First Time Plating A 1851-57 3 Cent

Well..., this one is actually very easy. But, it's a start.
This stamp has the re-cut bust. My quick research online shows, it only appears on 47R6. Plate 6, right side pane, position 47.
It's unfortunate that the right side is clipped.

That is a tough stamp to find in any condition. Quite a collection you bought...

Thanks sinclair2010. I'm really excited to have it. When I saw it at the auction, I felt it was special. So often at auction you see "lots" that have been cobbled together for sale. This obviously wasn't.

I was there looking to buy a US #2 on cover. A nice cover. That's the budget I had. When I saw the 3 cent album, that became my focus.

It was going on the block before the cover. So I figured, If the 3 cent collection went beyond my means, I had the cover to fall back on. The neat thing is, I rarely have that kind of budget to spend. Usually, it's just "stampcrow" lots that I bid on.

The #2 cover would have been nice in my meager collection. This 3 cent collection however, to me, is a living piece to be worked on.
