Did anyone take notice that the stamp shown below featuring Linus (I think) shows a star in the evening sky IN FRONT of his Christmas Tree?

Chalk it up to "artistic license", I guess.

Wt1, not to 'poop on your parade', but on my screen I clearly see a green line (needle?) in front of the star! It is especially noticable when I blow up the picture.

Okay, I'll concede, when I looked at it in a higher resolution scan I can see what you mean.

So as not to waste this thread, do you see a difference in the hands of Linus? It looks like his left hand has four fingers and a thumb, but his right hand has only three fingers and a thumb...or am I seeing things again?

His right hand has all five digits. The pinkie could be confused with the background, I imagine.

you're correct. His left hand is OK, but his right hand is not all the way there!
KGB, his right hand is the one on your left!

I had to download the image, and blow it up to be sure, but yep, there is a finger missing:

Proof, I say, that Linus has all his fingers.

I can understand Charles Schultz's "three finger" mistake. Almost all cartoonists draw either humans or anthropomorphic (human-like) animals, but not both. Cartoon humans have 5 fingers, but anthropomorphic cartoon animals...like Mickey Mouse, Bugs Bunny, and SNOOPY, have only 4 fingers.

So, Linus has a Snoopy hand!

The animation cels for this film were drawn by staff animation artists at the Bill Melendez firm, not by Schultz himself. With 13,000 frames minimum, Schultz could not draw all of them. The animation was done in just four months, so little errors like this probably were inevitable.

In addition, a thumb was all Linus seemed to really need, along with his blanket ...

at least Mr Shultz took the time to put a usps logo by the base of the tree, no wonder people started mailing Christmas cards.

I knew a cartoonist once who insisted that cartoon humans MUST have four fingers (including the thumb). She was quite adamant about it. It got pretty scary!
