Family,

I have been researching prices for Scott 342 and think I've come across something unusual. I checked ebay "Sold" listings and found the same stamp has been sold in the last two months or so. The company is called "Ten Shillings" and has had sold prices of $722 on August 8th, $365 on September 3rd and $751 on October 15th.

What is to be gained by such behavior? It is clearly overpriced. Please respond with you thoughts.

Thanks,
Jack Kelley

do they have alot of bids? There is an odd kind of shill were you try to make your item look like a " hot item" with alot of bids and some people will bid because things look popular. I dont understand shilling at all because who relly wins is ebay with all the fees but some people will try anything

this is a place were you can search ebay items with most bids. At 1 time ebay would put a matchstick if you had alot of bids but it caused people to cheat to get it so they stoped a few years ago.

Kevin,

I surmised as much. But what I don't understand is what is it they are to accomplish? They are just selling the same stamp back and forth to each other. And the prices are just out of sight. I can see how ebay benefits but don't see how the seller benefits.

I think those prices are crazy anyway that stamp is well centered alot and people who know how can clean up and regum a black stamp, I would worry more about finding a reputable dealer if you want that.

There are many topics here on the cartel, and the seller IDs one should avoid.

This sort of behavior is indicative of money laundering. Nothing actually changes hands.
