This used stamp is a part imperforated,perf.11, flat plate with no watermarks noted. Not sure if this is considered a Scott 500 or another scott's classification. Would appreciate your comments..Thank you in advance.

A higher quality scan would show the details better, but it looks like the lines in the toga rope and toga button are too light. It is looks like a Type I, which would make it a #499. I just got done looking at the #500 traits. Here's the link to that post: https://goscf.com/t/46191#46191 |

on you assessment of markings, luk..it shows 1-4, the # 5 marking.. The second line is straight not curve like the 499..I believe that I might need to get this checked, or if possible, if someone can do a better scan would appreciate it..it has the markings of the 500 when viewed under scope. |

my picture does not show good image of fine matters required..but based on the information when I viewed it under scope by the markings seen with lukusw's information which was extremely helpful to verify the difference, I am nearly positive it is a 500 now..would love to let all of you see what I am viewing under the scope..smiles |

I disagree. The stamp is a #499 on the basis of the present evidence. The scans are still too low resolution to convincingly show a #500, and enlarging portions of them does not add any information. The stamp needs to be re-scanned at a higher resolution. I feel you are in denial as to the evidence, as with some of your prior posts; having said this, identification of 499 versus 500 is a matter of opinion and even experts may have different opinions. The quandary is that you may convince yourself that it is a 500 now, but if you or your heirs ever go to sell it in the future, someone with better information may decline to pay the price of a 500 and insist it's a 499. If that's OK for you, fine, but it would be better in the long run to have others agree that it's a 500. |

Blaze... the image is too small for us to see the detail to help you positively define your stamp... it needs to be enlarged... |
