To get a feel for what you're willing to pay what would you pay for a sheet of the motion picture stamp. I believe this is a rather common stamp and could fall into the category of being used for postage. A sheet of 50 has a face value of $6.50. I assume you need these for a project. Battlestamp and I have been discussing this on another thread.

if you find someone who collects sheets and needs that 1 you could try for face + postage. In general stamps for postage I consider .20 and over stamps to be worth more than less than .20

Tom,

Can I assume you've looked at ebay? Right now, I see three listings: $6.99 + $1.99 shipping; $19.99 + free shipping; and $7.49 + $2.50 shipping. Interestingly, the two lower offers have a "best offer" opportunity, but not the more expensive one. But the latter is kind enough to offer free shipping!

So Jim's suggestion of face + postage looks about right. Hard to believe that the $6.99 listing would turn down an offer of $6.50.

I find it most interesting that a stamp that should be offered at well below face holds its value well.

Holds its value? If you had any quantity of them it would take so long to sell them at face that we might not even have letters anymore by the time you get done. You could easily sell them but it would be at the % of face for postage rate.

I think it depends how fast you want to sell the stamps. If you need the money immediately, it is probably 50% - 60% of face. If you can wait for 2 to 3 weeks, you probably can sell the stamps at 70% to 80% of face. Or, you can split the sheet and sell the stamps as $1 each like other ebay Sellers, it will definitely take years to sell all 50.
