Not a #64. Definitely a #65, with great centering.

The second one does look like a #64b, as you said. I'm not exactly an expert in this issue though, so I could very well be wrong.

Third one looks like a #65.

The pair on cover almost certainly is #65. I agree with themachine99 that the one with the 1861 postmark looks like #64b. It's hard to be sure just looking at scans.

Yes, that pair almost certainly is #65. I'll try to post a set of my #64/65 colors today.

dittrich,

The stamp colors look more true in the image showing the full cover. I'm even more confident the stamps are #65.

64a is pigeon blood pink and is the rarest of the shades of this design so not sure why you think you have one.

For comparison;

Yours

Certified 64a

You can now see how the Pink stands out. For color reference the ONLY ways to tell for sure are to either send it in for certification (Which could cost a few dollars and if it's not as you hoped there is no recovering the cost) or to compare it side by side with a certified copy or 2 or 3. With a 64a you'd be extremely lucky to even have one to compare it to. You can't accurately determine color shades from a scanner & on-line picture.

This is a scan of Scott #248, a very inexpensive stamp with the same pink color recommended as a reference for side-by-side comparison.
