I have a US stamp 112 Used. The stamp is perforated weirdly and the bottom of the stamp shows a totally different stamp. It says National bank. Does anyone know what this might be? Thanks.

That is not a second stamp, it is a part of the National Banknote imprint.

georgesstamp, you have a stamp that is misperforated. As revcollector said the part on the bottom is really the name of the company that printed the stamps, the National Bank Note Corporation.

It's really not misperforated, just off center. A little wider at the bottom then normal, but more of an oddity then a freak. People do like imprint captures, but but it is not hugely significant.

Imprint copies are very sought after and usually carry a premium.

I agree with stallzer that imprint captures, particularly strong ones like this example, are eminently collectible and sought after. But revcollector is also right. Apart from being a bit off center this is not at all a freak. Your stamp was not perforated weirdly, georgestamps, but rather within normal tolerances.

It was common practice for the perforations surrounding the design areas of a sheet to be set with a bit more distance from the adjacent edges of the stamp designs on the outsides of the sheet. Imprint and plate number captures were the logical and common outcome if the sheet was off center even a little bit. Not particularly rare, but very useful for philatelic students, and interesting to see when the capture is prominent.

I have a nice group of them showing the word "Continental" in the imprints of some stamps on soft paper. How would you understand that?
