Hi,I sent in a 5 cent stamp that I thought was a good Scott 361 candidate, whether it actually is,is up to them.
My question is how long is normal,it's been there 15 weeks on Monday.
Is this good or bad, seems to me the longer the better chance as there having quite a good look at it,or is this just simply normal as they take longer than the advertised 90 days quite a bit,I'm not concerned or anything,if it takes 6 months so be it,just wondering when to call to see if everything is OK there, thanks, let me know.

That's absolutely ridiculous ! I have several items that would benefit from a certification, but I'll be damned if I would part with them for that long.
There has to be a better way.
Bill Weiss was on the right track. Too bad he was upsetting the (high priced and poor service) good ole boys group of experts. |

Hi,I haven't called yet,I learned so much here on this forum I wanted to ask if longer than 90 days was just normal there(APS).I had another stamp done there 2 years ago,it was done it 45-50 days,I thought that since this was maybe a semi-valuable stamp that "longer is better" and that they are taking their time with it is a good thing. |

Hoping you insured/registered the return postage! I sent one off for their service a number of years back and finally called. They told me they had sent it back several weeks before. Wouldn't you know I never received it! See my post on page 2. Doug https://goscf.com/t/36535&whichpage=2 |

My experience with APS expertizing is that it takes forever. I still do it sometimes when purchasing from the APS Stamp Store because it is bargain-priced, but I have to be prepared to wait for a very long time to see the result and, if it is favorable, to receive my stamp. |

Huffy, you can go into the APS web site and view the status of your submission. It shows where your item is in the process. |

On another thread someone sent a block of 4 of the Carousel Horses with the gold missing to the APS. It was sent to the APS in September, and received back on 12 December, all in 2015. I do not believe you should worry too much! Still, it would not hurt to check!

I checked the website and it's still in the process,no opinion made yet, just wondered whether to call or not yet,the holidays screwed everybody up for those 2 weeks,I was thinking of waiting until the 18th,then it will be 4 months, surely it must be done by then.
Do you guys think it's good to be there long ? If it was a 335 they would be done fairly quickly with it but I'm thinking if it has a chance at a 361 maybe the longer there the better,it still might turn out as the 335 but at least there taking there time with it. |

And where did you get this piece of very dubious information?

In my experience with APEX, it usually takes 2 to 3 months for them to return the stamp being expertized. My sample size isn't very large (4 submissions) ... on 3 occasions, the elapsed time was closer to 3 months than 2. While 15 weeks does seem a bit long to me, you must realize that submissions during the holiday season may take a bit longer to process. |
