Hi guys...Maybe nothing, but noticed this extra spot on this "first day of issue" cover....Sampled the colours in the printing, the cancel and the spot...Obviously not a "constant", but maybe a "one off", or a "variety"..?

Wert. I see some evidence of inking "spatter" from the other horizontal cancellation lines on the envelope in several different spots. My guess is that if you did an analysis of those spots, they would be very similar to the extra spot found on the stamp. Or, as you suppose, could be a one-off and of minimal interest only. Keep searching.
