STS-4 lifts off pad 39A. June 27 1982. Space Shuttle Columbia

This was the fourth NASA Space Shuttle mission, and also the fourth for Space Shuttle Columbia. The mission launched on 27 June 1982 and landed a week later on 4 July. STS-4 was the final test flight for the shuttle; it was thereafter officially declared to be operational. Columbia carried numerous scientific payloads during the mission, as well as military missile detection systems

There is no title given on the rear of this card which leads me to believe the photo is of the ill fated Space Shuttle Challenger. Disaster struck on January 28, 1986 leading to the deaths of its seven crew members. Stamp is Columbia

It would be tough to see the o-rings from this image, but you might compare the weather to that launch date.

Ikey. When I put the Loupe on the PC its got a definite 'Challenger' look.

Rocket and missile display garden from 1966 in front of the Air Force Technical Applications Center, Patrick Air Force Base, Florida. These displays have since been moved to the Air Force Space & Missile Museum, at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Florida.
