Hi guys..Was looking through a bunch of stamps and came across this Scott # 2175...Don't know a lot about American stamps...Think it is from a corner of a sheet...

What is the number "2"mean...?
What is the cut off design at the left side...?

Robert

Robert,
Yes, it is a corner stamp with a plate number attached. I think the markings on the left side were not cut off but rather plate marks (like electric eye marks).

Robert, nothing stupid about that question! And your picture is timeless; in the past day or so another poster asked a question about plate number singles. They are interesting and yes, people collect these!

Robert,
I think there are 3 types of questions; factual, conceptual and provocative. Some might add to this with another type - obvious. But what is obvious to some of us might not be to others, so I don't count it.
