I hope this comes under the heading...my nephew the postal inspector was here honoring my father and received a happy cel phone message that his "trainee" had shut down a post office..yes the post master and assistant post master were filmed taking from the cash drawer..i asked if they would do time..he said probably not unless the amount was fairly large..they will most likely be terminated and still be eligible for whatever pension they have accrued up to this point ..said it happens quite a bit..well it keeps him employed !!

Wow, they should be prosecuted. That is theft, pure and simple. And the USPS is "losing money", maybe if they changed how they handled stuff like this, (giving a thief his pension) they wouldn't be in such bad shape!

It sounds to me like they're burning the barn because the horse was stolen.

Yes the thieves should be punished.....but to allow them a pension seems ridiculous.

But why would that mean they should close the office ?

Wow, at the US post office, too!
My son works in Asset Protection/Security at a Walmart--they also have cameras that watch the employees. He has caught several that don't scan items for friends--several that help themselves to food out of the deli isles--one employee even would load a coffee maker box full of DVD's and then they would scan the box and charge him for a coffee maker when inside there were numerous DVD's that he would sell at local pawn shops, etc, etc It is amazing! I fear stuff like this will only worsen with this economic downfall.
