I noticed this page on bidstart, #264 Varieties, and was curious enough to buy it. Maybe 7 of the 9 varieties look to be plate scratches, the other 2 maybe inking issues? The top row middle stamp (third from top individual scans) has interesting markings. The far right has 2 examples.
This made me wonder a few things. First, how many stamps did this collector look through to find these 9 varieties? I know that there were more than 2 billion printed, and according to Durland, 77 plates. I'm also curious if any of you actively collect early US plate scratches, and if there are any issues well known for these varieties.
EDIT: Ok, lets try again with individual scans. Sorry, photobucket is messing with my mind! They are on the way.
