I just bought this stamp; it is a FOlk Art USA 22c Canvasback Decoy but is missing all of the color? How much would an error like this be worth? any estimates or information would be great.

MMMikey64, welcome to this forum. Your picture of the error is pretty poor , but the greenish tint would make it appear that this stamp was chemically altered. My advise in this case would be to have it expertized!

It could be faded by the sun. Is it shown as mounted in a picture frame? |

Yes it is in a small picture frame. No, not altered any way. I thought that myself but magnified it and there is no signs of alteration |

Well, money is an issue right now. Where do you think I should have it expertised? For a modest fee that is? |

Under a loupe, you can see that the stamp is printed but without the color. A light black printing can cause an off black hue and that is the case with this stamp. |

There is no known error of this type, if others existed I'd say get a cert. But given that no others exist and that it was in a picture fame, I would invoke Occam's razor. The greatest probability is that this is a sun faded stamp. But if you spend money on a cert, please let us know what they find. Don |

I`m confused. Will you be providing a picture of the actual stamp in question? |

Peter, he writes, "Here is what the stamp is supposed to look like."

kgb - that refers to a pic of a normal stamp, not the one from his first pic
Mikey - likely light faded |

KGB look at the first post. He put a picture of the stamp he owns. The third post shows a normal example.
