New Here - I'm Collecting To The Minkus Supreme Global Reprints (And Beyond)

Hi! I'm 38 and I've been collecting for 2 years. It took me a while to settle on a format for housing and displaying my collection. I quickly grew frustrated with Scott Internationals, because they are just way too limited in scope. I tried the Steiner pages and became maddened by the needlessly over broad coverage and page after nearly empty page filling my shelf space. Just look at the first page for France in Steiner. I feel lucky to have one 1F Ceres; I'm never going to own all 5 varieties of that stamp as Bill calls for. Likewise, I'm never going to own the stamps with SCVs of multiple $10,000s +. Steiner has a way of eviscerating really great collections with endless dead space. I tried creating my own album pages for a little bit. I liked the customizable aspect of it, but hated the amount of time I was spending building pages on my computer. In the end, it was the Goldilocks post on the Big Blue blog that finally convinced me to go with Minkus. For the most part, I'm pretty satisfied with the album. There are some great stamps included in the Minkus album that you won't find in the Scott International (like the full set of Graf Zeppelins) and generally more of the higher value and, in my opinion, interesting stamps. My singular complaint about Minkus is the exceedingly short coverage given to early stamps of British colonies. I make up for this by adding blank pages for the stamps that go well beyond the coverage of Minkus. I'm going to get a blog up at some point to chronicle the progress of my collecting and (I hope) serve as a resource for other Minkus collectors. Best, Kyle

I agree with you on the coverage of Minkus Supreme, if they only used better paper in the Supremes, I'm assuming the reprints have better paper.
