In my new Topic "My favorite postage issue due issue J69 - J78" looks OK when I edit it in 1280x1024. But all the spaces are removed when I look at the post. Why? Help.

I hesitate to answer this question as I could be entirely wrong, but... here goes anyway.
I suspect that your data is separated by tabs and that the site software just doesn't do tabs very well. It will be hard to line columns up with spaces, I know, but that's probably what you'll be left with.
At least hard carriage returns work! |

Sorry, no tabs. Just plain old spaces (ASCII 32). Looks fine when I edit it. |

Okay, a more helpful answer ... Many programs do not know how to handle HTML blank space, so they either eliminate them (probably in the case of the OP, or they put substitute characters in the blank space... typically "20%"... so if you see a link that has 20%, the program substituted 20% for the blank space ... such as my20%document.doc
To get spacing, you need to put in something HTML programs can deal with to get the format you want.
Stamps2Go.com item description does the same thing. If I put an item description in with paragraphing (blank space), it appears published with it all run together. So to get some bit of formatting... I use *** to separate what I want. "Space,Space,Space****Space,Space,Space New line" |

I fixed it! If you put the font as Courier New and replace all spaces with "  (NBSP has to be in lower case)" (this a directive for HTML to place a space) it works. My post is now formatted correctly. Have a look: All Forums Category: US Stamps and Covers s Forum: US Back of Book topic: My favorite postage issue due issue J69 - J78 |

Hi postagedueguy
Another thing you can do is to use a No-Break Space. Using the number pad you can insert this by: ALT + 0160.
Sample:
regular space no-break space
To use the space I usually insert one and then copy it and paste wherever I need the space.

Interesting to know.
I often used just____(underscore) for tabs in columns
