Greetings from Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego. I'm working on a book on stamps of General San Martín, and I would like to know the history of the first stamps printed by United States in this process by the American Bank Note Company of New York, but even if I wrote nobody answered.

Greetings

Claudio Picone

Saludos

Hi Claudio,

Welcome to the SCF.

I was just working on my Argentina stamps last night and was wondering what General San Martin's claim to fame was.
Maybe you could enlighten me.

Steve

Together with Simón Bolívar, San Martín is regarded as one of the Liberators of Spanish South America. He is the national hero of Argentina. The Order of the Liberator General San Martin (Spanish: Orden del Libertador San Martín) in his honor is the highest decoration in Argentina

Without a doubt San Martins image appears to be the most popular on Argentine stamps....i pick up the San Martin stamps with the department initials on them... ministry of finance, Ministry of agriculture etc;. Its fairly easy to have an Argentine back of book collection with all the Officials...

I have all series and issued postage stamps of Great Saint Martin, but I lack the information about stamps recorded by the American Bank Note Company of New York. I wrote letters to the bank but I do not have responded, could someone please make information about the recorders of these stamps dating Argentinos year 1867?
