I am a fan of the Simpsons and I like very much the new stamps they made.
Who said that he prefered historical stamps? The Simpsons are a part of our History...:-) Of my History... I grew up with them!

I love The Simpsons and was glad to see a set of stamps honoring the show. I would have liked to have seen a couple of sets of twenty different characters. Something similar to what they did with the comic book hero series. Also, what in the world did they do to Homer????? |

2112, All of the Simpsons were hand drawn by Matt Groening. I bet it had been years since he had drawn his creations himself. A bit reminiscent of the shaky animation from The Tracey Ulman Show.
BTW I like Tom Sawyer. |

I don't watch The Simpson's, although I have seen a few episodes, and I did see the movie and I thought that it was really funny. I was just in the mood for something totally different when I went to see it.
Collecting stamps to me is a fun hobby. It should be relaxing and enjoyable. It doesn't always have to be a history or geography lesson. I don't collect US stamps, but my daughter collects cartoon and movie related stamps along with her more "serious" collections. I know she really likes "The Simpsons" so when I spotted a FDC of a couple of the stamps I got it for her. She was thrilled. It was also the only stamps that my 13 year old grandson ever looked at more then once. Like it's been said, "THEY ARE COOL"... So collect what you like, and don't collect what you don't like. It's as easy as that.

Most new stamps lack the quality of the older issues, with few exceptions I prefer the old ones. |

David, I assume you have a loose mixture table at ORAPEX - that is a great idea, the kids would have fun hunting for the Simpsons stamps. Maybe some SCF members who get lots can send you some. |

Hi All
I am going through some of these old posts and usually find something interesting that I can also participate in.
Regarding the Homer Simpson stamp, I have nothing against it although I think there are better topics to issue stamps for, but, what the heck. Homer is Homer and I think that the stamp is alright.
I would like to ask though if it is the longest running TV series or is it the longest cartoon series?? The TV western series "Gunsmoke" starring James Arness, also ran 20 years and this is why I am asking. Not sure if there was ever a stamp issued for "Gunsmoke" though.
Just my 2 cents worth <G>
