This year is Charles Darwin's 200th birthday. Obviously, there are a lot of stamps honoring Darwin. Here is a link to some pics of a recent Royal Mail set:
In honor or CD's 200th, a new species of lemur-monkey (47 million years old) was announced today. It is supposedly the "missing link" that "proves" humans and other primates and lemurs all descended from a common ancestor. Here is a link and a picture:
At the risk of upsetting the residents of Shrewsbury, my most favourite town in all the world, this issue is gross......and that's being kind. I have long been of the opinion that Royal Mail have lost the plot, and this just goes to prove my point. A nice set of drawings by a local artist, showing the Mount, the gardens and the winding paths to the River and his school would have been much more appropriate.
I have had two of these come through my door recently. The stamp tends to soak off and press nicely, though I seem to have a problem with the stamp curling into a "^" like shape. Is this common?
Knudson - I've had a similar problem when soaking modern German issues so I guess it is common. I just put them in a large book and let them sit for a few days and they usually straighten our OK.
I like the puzzle piece shape of the stamp too; very clever. But I have to agree with Londonbus1; it is an awful photo. He does look like a mad scientist ... or possibly the missing link himself.
