Just wanted to say hello. Name's Allan. Been collecting USA both postal and air on and off for most of my life. Health reasons have slowed me down so I can concentrate on stamp collecting. Grandfather was a big-time Swedish collector and used to trade with FDR. He taught me a lot. Will follow this forum daily, and hope to get to know all you regulars.

Welcome Allan! I also am a US collector with topical collections for Abe Lincoln & Route 66. I am sure I speak for everyone when I say "Please share your collection & knowledge with us". We are a fun and supportive group for those whom have caught the philatelic bug.

G'Day Allan and to the forum,

It would be good to hear the history of your grandfather's stamp trading.

regards Harry

Quick reply...Never have I had a more welcoming reply to my coming on board a forum. Many thanks.
Grandfather was Oscar R. Lundin. Father was a tailor to the royal family of Sweden in the 1800s. One of 10 children. Stowed away on a ship and came to Boston as a 16-year old. After several years built a steam bath on Carver St., Boston, and kept a lot of people in Boston clean for many years.
That's all for tonight. Story will pick up tomorrow.
Best..
Allan

He had a "Stamp Room" devoted just to his hobby. Like we all have, right?
His stamp desk was a wonderful old converted spinet piano with many little drawers. Many of his dupes were framed and mounted around the walls...triangle stamps from Cape of Good Hope, Tania Tuva, etc.
So now I hope to continue his memory. My US collection is pretty far along. I will now try and replace the used with at least unused or mints. Both standard and air are about through 1985. Waiting for a stock book to arrive in the mail so I can arrange my dupes in better fashion.
