I just started my philatelic journey here last week and it has been fun so far. My father passed away last year and gave me his stamp collection. He collected quite a collection over a 40+ year period mostly German states, territories, colonies, a Canadian collection and a bunch of various German stamps and old envelopes. Always remember him going to stamp auctions, dealing with other collectors and clubs growing up. Think he left this for me so I would remember and think about him as I sifted through this collection.
Trying to determine what I have here, so plan is to take my time organize and scan everything I have. Have already scanned about half of the collection about 400 pages and still need to finish up the rest and go through quite a bit of loose stamps and envelopes.

Welcome to SC. You will receive good tips from experienced members.
A question: Do you plan to scan stamps from your entire collection ? How will you inventory them....through Catalogues....Albums.....etc ? Enjoy -

Yes that plan is to scan everything first. Quite a bit is already organized in printed albums already, but have quite a bit that are loose and/or in non-printed albums. So once I get everything scanned going to go through and identify the loose and ones in non-printed album. Have a ton of Erssttagsblatt that is nicely organized though.

Does not appear that I have any US.

Put what I have scanned so far up on Flickr. Waiting for my stamp tweezers to come in to work on the rest of the stuff I have.

I inherited the collection, my father appears to have hinged some of them.
