When joining this site, AOL members should check their spam folder if they don't get a quick reply on their listed e-mail, as the confirmation message was redirected there.

Also, the link did not work even after I enabled the "show links" function...I cut and pasted the ENTIRE link (including all the odd numbers at the end) into the go to box. I was then able to join no problem.

Charles.

AOL has the worst email service on the planet. You can't get all your mail even if you tell them you don't want any of it blocked. They have decided that you can't handle it and might hurt yourself.

They will block an email from ever getting to you (spam folder or otherwise) and not even bounce it. They just vaporize it because you can't be trusted with it.

Read this thread. I go through this at least once a week privately. Every single one is AOL.

That does sound frustrating. I have used AOL all my internet life, about ten years, and haven't seen that kind of problem. But, I don't block any e-mails, and I check my spam folder every three days. Some messages do get redirected there. If the person complains that they didn't receive the message, as opposed to it being bounced, they should check their spam folder.

Charles.

Charles, I really hate to sound condescending, I'm not but... that's a typical AOL lovers response. I've seen it a thousand times.

You don't get all your email, whether you realize the problem or not.

You're going to have to trust me on this. I deal with it on a daily basis and have for years.

Of all initial registrations 15-20% on our forums go unconfirmed (link in email not clicked), 90% of those are AOL email addresses. This has been a dead steady, unwaivering fact for years.

All accounts that go unconfirmed after a few days get an email from me from a different email domain (my Comcast account), 95% of those AOL emails go unanswered again.

I can't tell you how many members we have lost because AOL thinks you can't manage your email on your own.
