Hello everyone. I'm very new to stamp collecting, having recently become fascinated by postal history, and the value of the postal system in establishing meaningful connections between people and places. I've also come to think it would be interesting to explore some of my other hobbies, such as health and fitness, certain sports, computers, comic books, and more by way of stamps.

I don't know much at all, but look forward to exploring this hobby with others. This forum seems like a very well attended and friendly place, so I look forward to interacting with you all.

I'm currently reading "The Illustrated Encyclopedia of Stamp Collecting" by Otto Hornung. If anyone has any other good reads they'd recommend, I'd love to hear about them. Thanks.

Welcome Eric:

Stamp Collecting is pretty much a self-taught hobby. Look for a good book on "How To Collect Stamps". that sort of book will help you understand basic terms and how to handle your stamps and covers, tools used in the hobby, do's and don't's, etc.

Read a few of the hobby magazines like Linn's Stamp News, Scott Stamp Monthly, Canadian Stamp News, etc. The stories in those periodicals will pique your interest and get you going in something that interests you.

By all means, ask questions!

Enjoy and have fun!

David
