Hi, was researching and was wondering why my stamp has no perf edge on top. was wondering if it had value. we have come across a stamp collection and am looking for treasures in the box. Thanks
The green line on the top of the stamp indicates where the sheet was cut into panes. So your stamp comes from the top row of one of the bottom 2 panes. Although these are less common then stamps perforated on all 4 sides these are somewhat frowned upon by collectors.
Not all collectors would frown upon it, though. I think it looks nice -- except for the 2 or 3 perfs that appear to have "toning" (brown color). They hurt the overall appearance, at least to my eye.
