Hello,

I'm a 42 years old man from Serbia who discovered this community few days ago and I decided to join.
When I was 7 or 8 years old, I remember watching my grandfather always doing something with and around stamps, updating his collection, sorting new stuff...
That's when I first started to love philately, he bought me a little empty album and couple of years later I had my own little collection of 4-5 albums.

My grandfather was not an "average" collector, back in the 1950's he was a General director of Post Office in Yugoslavia, so he had better opportunities to have various stamps than most other people.
However, he was only interested in stamps that were printed after the II world war and were available to everybody else (probably because of his strong socialist beliefs, he was living a simple life, never into making money and having rarities..).
Despite that fact, he ended up having a nice collection of stamps collected through many of his travels and various special albums he received as gifts.

Long story short and 30 plus years later (couple of months ago), I discovered a part of his collection in his old apartment and I was mesmerized. I started to look through the pages, trying to find out as much as I could about his stamps and only after about 2 weeks, I was hooked. I am now browsing the web every day trying to learn as much as I can about stamps, I'm learning about history, trying to translate stuff about stamps from different languages... Last Sunday I even went to a Serbian philately club :)

Sorry for such a long introduction and for my bad English. I hope I will learn much more from this community and have a nice time.

Welcome, your English is fine. There is a lot of stamp history you should be able to find in regard to Serbia, Jugoslavia, Austro-Hungary, etc.
