I found this in an APS circuit. It's sound, has a great blue cancel and I figured $8.00 wasn't unreasonable.

I'm pretty sure what I have here is Scott 24, but I can't make heads or tales of what plating it might be. Anyone want to take a shot at this?

Stampman, you'll need to post a higher resolution image, maybe as much as 2400dpi. The images on Doporto's site are all at about 4800.

You can load the image to Photoshop and then do a direct link from that image to here by using the 1st icon in the media row above.

Hope that helps. It's either a B or F relief, but can't see the top curved line. No "baseball hat bruise" which could help I'd an F relief.

Ray

I'll defer to the others who are better at plating Ty V's than myself, but that is a nice Balto Paid cancel on that stamp. I've always enjoyed those, as they are quite attractive on the 1c stamp. Balto == Baltimore. I think it was often used as a drop cancel, although I'm fairly sure I've seen it on printed matter as well since that was also a 1c rate.

I've found that the Balto Paid cancel is often misdescribed as a carrier cancel.

Yes, I like the Balto Paid cancel as well. Once I'd determined the stamp was sound, it was a done deal.
