New One And Two Cent Acquisitions

The two red 2 cent Washinhton stamps that I paired looks like some kind of white ink and perf issue. There are a few others with perf issues too. What would cause the ink and perf issues? Thanks for weighing in! Jonathan

Your stamps look to be really commons issues, and the lose ones are in terrible condition. You can tell for sure here:

I'm not sure exactly what you mean by, "ink and perf issues". but the ratty sides are stamps that have been very poorly handled. parts of the stamps have been torn off. This could be a result fo removing it from the envelope, or separating them form the other stamps. The also look to be heavily canceled. No collectible value left in the loose ones. The post card ones have most of their value in the postcard itself.

Jonathan, your title states acquisition. Did you purchase these or were they part of a collection?

Stallzer, I purchased them along with some postcards and other stamps. They were part of a collection that's being sold at a local thrift/ consignment store.

Friendly, I think you ought to get rid of the stamps that look like the ones you pictured. It looks like they came out of a home were rats nibbled on them, and that can not be very healthy.

Like I said they were bought from a thrift store/consignment shop that is actually very clean but like you said the home the damaged stamps came from evidently had a rodent problem. I've never encountered rodent nibbled stamps before but will be on the look out for that type of damage when purchasing used stamps. These were the others I bought and they look ok.
