It's not going to hurt the realization.

doesn't the underbidder also need to participate in the auction for your statement to be true?

This is one of those once in a lifetime items. Whenever it comes up for sale, there will be interest from those who can afford to participate in such auctions.

It was sold extremely quickly after its discovery. There will be equal if not greater interest now. (Similar to the invert jenny sheet after its discovery...which then re-sold for a much higher price almost immediately afterwards...)

They could hold the auction in timbuktu & the folks able to participate will take notice & be involved if they wish to be.

The interesting thing here is that - at least so far - they're keeping it as a full sheet. Which they should - even though one could likely garner higher profits by breaking it up.

My guess is it will exceed last fall's price, even if not by very much. But I'll also guess that this will change hands several times over the coming years...and the price will only go up. It is something that you cannot find elsewhere, which makes it extremely attractive. And it's in very good shape, which will add to its desirability...

Good luck to all of you bidders!
