Hi Pat, Welcome to the SCF

These are my 2 cents - after literally advising people and collecting over 20 years and millions of dollars

Do what interests you and do it for the pleasure it gives you. Stamps are not an investment and any financial returns you make are a bonus.

Decide what you like in stamps and then pursue that - some people call that theme based collecting

get trading buddies whereever possible - you will learn about other countries, cultures and more importantly might discover a thing or two about yourself that you did not know.

Have fun

thanks spock1k! I felt that applied to me too.
Being overwhelmed is a recurrent theme for me, now it's just two themes, the large stamps and stamps under the heading "I like" which has no rhyme nor reason, just plain lovable stamps at first sight!

I like this dancing smile! but I dont know why, enjoy!

just hang on and enjoy the ride patricia. you will find yourself in an amazing world of stamps, stamp oddities, cinderellas and who knows what, but it is set for your speed, your wishes and your interests. Just let the rest of it flow around you and if you want to take a side trip, go right ahead and then you can come back to what you know, just enjoy and do what comes natural
