August Topic Of The Month Competition.

After the recent thread started by DJD about Gutter snipes and the excellent responses and opinions forged thereafter, I think it would be nice to have a competition

So I will sponsor the August Topic Of the Month competiton, and the prize will be 6 different Stamp Booklets [complete].

Threads/topics entering the competition must start in August and not be a continuation of earlier topics. They must be stamp or stamp related.
The winning topic will be voted by you the members on a points basis.
Please vote not only on quantity but also quality,interest and good humour.
At the end of the month, I will ask all members to send me by email their 1st,2nd and 3rd choices in descending order. The winner will be announced on September 7th, one week after the competition closes.

The competition could run on a regular basis but I am away in Septemeber at Stampex [UK] and drinking Beer in Munich, so will not be able to organize. Volunteers are welcome if we decide to continue.

'tis a pity DJD was too early with his thread [which I enjoyed greatly...along with many others of course]. But If I find a nice Penny Black item at Stampex, I will get it for him !

So get posting everyone, and keep your threads moving by adding to them.

If we are voting for the winner, I don't see why you can't enter too.
Just make the voting open, so everyone can see it, then there is no problem.
If you win, we will all have to send you something.

I am glad you brought this great contest back, it has been away for too long. Now I have to put my thinking cap on.......bummer it's too small.

joshua i'll take it then it might fit meand this sounds like a great idea to bad I dont know a whole lot about stamps to come up with a great topic and londonbus just think if you win and we all have to send you something how many stamps you would have

I checked on the rules, there is no mention of 50 posts for joining contests (only on selling, buying, trading), or it just might have slipped by me.

As it is obvious, I am still below 50, the question is somewhat interesting

First to answer nic's question.
Of course you can enter, this has noithing to do with buying and selling but about information and...well, fun too. I don't think you need 50 posts for that.
Besides, you are almost there !

As for me entering the competition, OK I agree. You guys are so nice, I didn't have any idea how I could without being blatantly cheeky . OK, the voting can be open, still on a points basis which I will divulge later.

Anyone starting a thread in the month of August is eligible to enter.....indeed it will be automatic as the members here, including yourself, are voting for the winner. [Of course you cannot vote for your own!].

So just start a topic, any stamp or stamp related subject, and you are in with a chance. We will then vote for the most interesting,funny, informative etc at the end of the month.
You can start as many topics as you like of course. The more you start the more chances you have of winning. You can also add to your own topic to keep it going and keep others interested.

So get your thinking cap on Mr Spock !
